A multi-published novelist writing as Janis Susan May, Janis Patterson, Janis Susan Patterson, J.S. May and J.S.M. Patterson, seventh-generation Texan Janis Susan was formerly an actress and singer, a talent agent for films and TV, and Supervisor of Accessioning for a bio-genetic DNA testing lab. Among a number of other things including jewelry designer and journalist, Janis Susan has also been editor-in-chief of two multi-magazine publishing groups. The North Texas Chapter of the American Research Center in Egypt was founded in her den, and she was the original editor of The Newsletter of the North Texas Chapter of ARCE, which for the nine years of her reign was the international organization’s only monthly publication. During her tenure as editor the Newsletter was for years archived as a scholarly journal by museums and universities across the globe. Since leaving the editor’s position Janis Susan has been active in NT/ARCE almost every year since it was founded. She was also the closing speaker for the ARCE International Conference in Boston in 2005. In 2015 she and her husband were invited to stay at the El Kab excavation dig house in Egypt so she could research a novel – A KILLING AT EL KAB. Janis Susan married for the first time when most of her contemporaries were becoming grandmothers. Her husband, a handsome Navy Captain several years younger than she, even proposed in a moonlit garden in Egypt not far from the Pyramids. Janis Susan and her husband live in Texas with an assortment of rescued furbabies.
